Hamburg
Germany was an added bonus while my family and I were vacationing in London. We stayed there for two days and a night, just enough to get a taste of the town. I learned a few things while there: Hamburg is the 2nd largest city in Germany and the largest port in Europe, the word “burg” in German means castle or fortification and the town is littered with mansions and manor estates from 17th – 19th century upper class citizens known as German burghers (I don’t have many pictured here – we were on a tour bus most of the ...

Barcelona
Barcelona was a cosmopolitan city with a mixture of people from all over the world. I was so in awe of how relaxed and easy going the culture was. I was so impressed by that energy and ease that I dream of living there. This is my trip in totality from my travel journal. When in Barcelona: ‘Got to Barça and had to pay for the bathroom! Went straight to our Airbnb near La Sagrada Familia as we were running behind for the football match. Called our host when we got to the front of the flat and played a ...

Istanbul
I flew Turkish Airlines for my trip to Madrid and Barcelona and on my leg back, I had an 8-hour layover in Istanbul, Turkey. I was a bit nervous to leave the airport because of timing but I figured if I were conservative I could spend 4.5 hours and get back in time for my flight home. Lucky for me, the entire layover worked out with only a minor incident. My friend and I took the train directly from the airport to the Sultanahmet train stop next to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Dikilitaş Anıtları 2. We stopped into some ...

Los Angeles
I was once made fun of for saying “Cali” because apparently “Cali” is not what Californians say. May 2015 Where should I go next? Perhaps Copenhagen. © Copyright 2016 Akua Sencherey. All rights reserved.

Canada
When I was young, I dreamed of being a professional athlete. I bounced from basketball, to soccer, to cheerleading, to track & field, to volleyball. Though none of these came to be my profession, one vision has endured since then – that I’d be involved in some way shape or form with the World Cup. I can’t explain the feeling I get when the time rolls around – all of the national pride, expectant performances of up and coming players, the embodiment of the host country in the tournament theme and advertising. I first went to Montreal in June 2015 ...

Seattle
I was truly surprised by how much I enjoyed the city of Seattle. Although it drizzled nearly the entire time we were there, we made our way out and about. The look and feel of the city inspired me and made me feel as though I needed to create something or be innovative in some way. It could have been the hills and mountains that we drove through from Portland all the way to Washington, the color of the fall leaves, or the architecture – I’m not sure. If I could get over the rain, I would definitely consider this ...

Argentina
My 2016 new years resolution was to learn Spanish so it was only natural that South America was one of the many destinations that year. As a friend and I were deciding on a place to escape the NY winter, Argentina came to mind for many reasons besides the fact that they have summer in February – nature in the form of Iguazu Falls, food in the form of steak, empanadas and wine and culture in the form of architecture, government corruption and protests of the people. And I can’t forget all of the “juh” sounding double ls that made it extremely ...

Cape Town
I traveled to Cape Town for a World Conference that my church, Every Nation, hosts in different locations ever 3 years. It was my first time in attendance and I was taken aback by how uplifting this overall experience was, not only in the beauty of the country – a safari, tour of the beautiful cape, wineries in Stellenbosch, the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg – but also in the presence of other Christians worshiping God together in the realness and authenticity of their passion for spreading the good news and living for something much bigger than themselves. I found this ...
